Stationery that has to look like a supplier

Manufacturers and precast companies sell to contractors, consultants and developers who assess suppliers partly on paperwork. A quotation on a well-produced letterhead reads differently to the same numbers in an email body, particularly at tender stage.

That is not a vanity argument. It is the same reason your quality paperwork is filed neatly.

Labelling is a materials question

The most common labelling mistake is choosing by price and finding the label has curled off a pallet after two weeks outdoors. Where the label lives determines what it should be made of:

  • Indoor packaging — paper, cheapest, perfectly adequate
  • Outdoor storage or yard — vinyl with a UV laminate
  • Washdown or chemical contact — polypropylene, laminated
  • Machine plates and asset tags — printed directly onto metal or acrylic rather than applied as a sticker

Tell us where it is going and we will tell you what it needs to be.

Direct printing rather than stickers

For machine identification, safety instructions and asset tagging, printing directly onto an aluminium or acrylic panel outlasts any adhesive label. It costs more per piece and considerably less over the life of the machine.

Questions

Manufacturing & precast: Common questions

Will labels survive a factory or a yard?

It depends on the material, which is why we ask where the label is going before quoting. Paper labels are fine indoors on packaging. Outdoor and washdown environments need vinyl with a laminate, and anything near heat or solvents has to be specified deliberately rather than assumed.

Can you print onto metal or acrylic panels directly?

Yes. Direct printing onto plastic, glass, metal, wood and ceramic is covered by our trade licence, and it is the right answer for machine plates, asset tags and door signage where a stuck-on label would not last.

Do you design company profiles?

Yes. A company profile is one of the more useful documents a manufacturer can have, particularly at tender stage, and it is generally worth building properly rather than assembling it in a word processor.
