What counts as large format

Anything too big for a sheet-fed press. In practice that means banners, vinyl, window graphics, roll-up stands, backdrops and printed panels — printed on wide roll-fed machines rather than in sheets.

The two questions that decide the job

Where is it going, and for how long? Indoors for a week and outdoors for two years are entirely different specifications. Sun in Dubai is severe, and an unlaminated outdoor print will fade far faster than most people expect.

How far away will it be read from? A banner read from thirty metres needs much larger type and far less of it than a poster read from two. This is the single most common mistake in large format artwork.

Materials in brief

• Flex (PVC banner) — the standard outdoor banner material, hemmed and eyeleted
• Mesh — perforated, so wind passes through. For hoardings and building wraps.
• Vinyl — self-adhesive, for glass, walls, panels and vehicles
• Roll-up media — for portable retractable stands
• Rigid panels — acrylic, aluminium composite, foam board, timber, printed directly rather than having vinyl applied

What we do and what a partner does

We print. We hem, eyelet, laminate and mount. Where a job needs a structure built or fixed to a building, that is done by our licensed Dubai signage partner, who holds the fabrication and installation permissions. We say so plainly because it changes who turns up at your premises.
