Written to be read at arm’s length
A door hanger is read by someone standing at their own front door, usually in a hurry, often holding something. That is a worse reading position than a flyer in the hand and a much worse one than a page on a screen.
So the hierarchy has to be brutal: one offer, one number, one action. The hangers that fail are the ones laid out like a small brochure.
The back is not the back
Once a hanger is on a handle it faces whichever way it was left. In a corridor of apartments, about half of them present what you designed as the reverse. Treat both faces as a front — or at minimum put the phone number on both.
Humidity decides the stock
Unlaminated card curls here, and a curled hanger reads as something that has been on the handle for a fortnight. Matt lamination on 350gsm is the specification that still looks deliberate on day three, which is the whole point of putting it there.

What size are door hangers in Dubai?
The standard here is 12 x 28.5 cm with a die-cut hole at the top for the handle. It is long enough to carry a headline and a phone number at arm's length and still fits a standard lever handle without tearing.
Should door hangers be printed on both sides?
Yes. A hanger on a door handle is seen from both sides as people pass, and roughly half of them meet the back first. Printing one side saves very little and wastes the more-read surface about half the time.
Why matt lamination rather than plain card?
Door hangers get handled, go on outdoor handles and sit in corridors. Unlaminated 350gsm curls in Dubai humidity within a day or two. Matt lamination keeps it flat and stops fingerprints showing.
Can I have a custom shape?
Within reason. Four dies already exist — standard, rounded corner, butterfly and cane — and using one of those carries no tooling cost. A new shape means a new die, which is worth it on larger runs; tell us the idea and we will say whether it pays.
