It is a protective sheet first
A paper car mat exists to keep a mechanic’s boots off a customer’s carpet. Every design decision follows from that: it gets stepped on, it gets dirty, and it goes in the bin at the end of the visit.
That is not a reason to design it badly. It is a reason not to spend four-colour money on something with a half-hour life — one or two colours on wood free does the job and costs a fraction at volume.
Where showrooms are different
A valet or showroom mat is doing the opposite job. The customer gets into a clean car and the mat is the first branded thing they see from above. Here full colour on glossy earns its cost, and the long A2 or B2 format is worth the extra because it reads as deliberate rather than disposable.
Put the phone number where a foot will not be
The centre of the mat takes the shoe. Anything you want read — the number, the next-service reminder — belongs on the top third, which stays visible while the driver is sitting in the seat.

What size should a paper car mat be?
A3 at 420 x 300 mm covers a standard driver footwell and is what most garages use. B3 is slightly larger for bigger vehicles. A2 and B2 are long formats that reach further back — useful for SUVs and for valet work where the mat is meant to be noticed.
How many colours do I actually need?
For a service garage, one or two colours on wood free is the standard and the cheapest per unit by a clear margin — it is a protective sheet with your logo and phone number on it. Full colour is worth it for showrooms and valet, where the mat is doing brand work rather than protecting carpet.
Which paper lasts longest in the car?
None of them are meant to. These are disposable mats for a single service visit or valet. If you want weight that feels substantial in the hand, wood free 100gsm is the sweet spot; glossy 135gsm looks the most premium but shows creases.
What is the minimum order?
Five hundred. Car mats are printed on a large sheet and ganged, so cost drops steeply with quantity — the jump from 500 to 2,000 is usually much less than four times the price. Ask us for both when you enquire.
