Most printed card boxes are not given to clients. They are handed to a new starter, or to a broker at the start of a quarter, with their name on 100 cards inside. The box is what turns a stack of cards into something that was issued.
That is worth knowing before you design it, because it changes the brief: this is an internal, not external, piece — it should look like the company, not like a pitch.
Order it before the cards
Ten working days on press is the longest lead time of anything in this range, and it is the item people forget. The cards are a three-day job; the box is a two-week one. If they have to arrive together, the box sets the date.
Match the black
A box and a card printed on different stocks will not look like the same black unless somebody checks. If we are printing both, we proof them side by side — that is the whole reason to buy them from one place.

Who actually orders printed business card boxes?
Mostly companies that hand cards to their own staff rather than to clients — agencies, brokerages and sales teams issuing a box per person. The box is what makes a pack of 100 cards feel like it was issued rather than just printed.
What is the lead time?
Ten working days on press after the proof is approved, which is the longest in this range. It is a cut, folded and glued item, so it does not come off the press finished. If you need cards and boxes together, the box sets the date — order it first.
Can the box match the cards inside it?
Yes, and that is normally the point. If we are printing both, we colour-match them and proof them together so the box and the card are the same black and the same brand colour, which is harder than it sounds across two different stocks.
Is there a smaller run than 1,000?
Not on this die. Below that, a plain box with a printed label or belly band is usually the sensible answer, and we can produce that instead — tell us the quantity and we will say which way works out better.
