Getting the logo right for a garment
A logo drawn for a letterhead rarely works untouched on a shirt. At chest size, fine lines close up, small text becomes illegible, and gradients cannot be reproduced in thread at all.
So we produce a garment version: simplified, with the detail that survives and the detail that does not removed deliberately rather than by accident.
Embroidery or print
Embroidery — stitched into the fabric. Outlasts the garment, reads as smarter, and is the right choice for polos and caps. Cannot hold fine detail.
Heat transfer or direct print — reproduces detail and photographs, works for large designs, and costs less on short runs. Wears with washing.
Reflective transfer — for hi-vis, where the marking must not compromise the reflective properties of the garment.
Practical notes worth knowing
Order two per person for anything worn daily. One garment per head means somebody is out of uniform every wash day.
Collect sizes before ordering, not after. Guessing produces a box of larges and three people who cannot wear them.
Left chest is the default placement for a reason — it reads in conversation and survives being sat down in.
What Falcon does and does not do
Falcon prepares the artwork and specifies the application. Garment supply and the application itself are arranged through a partner: supplying garments is a trading activity, and silkscreen printing on textiles and wearing apparel is expressly excluded from our trade licence. We say so rather than quietly implying otherwise.
Questions
Branded workwear: Common questions
Embroidery or print?
Embroidery for polos, caps and anything worn to look smart — it lasts the life of the garment and reads as more expensive. Print for t-shirts, large back designs and anything with fine detail or photographic content that thread cannot reproduce.
Will my logo work on a shirt?
Not always as drawn. Fine lines, small text and gradients disappear at chest size, and embroidery in particular cannot hold detail below a certain thickness. We usually produce a simplified version for garments and keep the full logo for print — this is normal practice, not a compromise.
How many should I order?
Count your staff, add spares in medium and large, and expect two per person if they are worn daily and washed. Ordering exactly headcount means someone is in an unbranded shirt on laundry day.
What does Falcon do and what does the partner do?
Falcon prepares the artwork and the print-ready files, and specifies placement and sizing. Garment supply and the application itself are handled through a partner, because supplying garments and silkscreen printing on apparel are not activities on our trade licence.
